I have personally found that communication is more about understanding the audience than having any special knowledge. Therefore my best learning has taken place over a lifetime of connecting with others. I enjoy meeting new people, learning their story, and thereby better understanding where we all fit in the world. I wanted to make it clear that I deeply value clear communication, and that is best demonstrated by my desire to seek out training at every available opportunity. With that in mind I believe my best communication learning experiences occurred as follows:
- My parents reading to me and conversing with me from an early age
- Making a diverse set of friends early in my childhood
- Dating and breaking up
- Being a section leader in marching band
- Being an orientation leader at my university for three years
- Learning a foreign language (Spanish)
- Traveling abroad (Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom)
- Working in sales at Albertson Financial
- Networking regularly
